Getting a job with a foreign passport and OCI in India

Hi people, I am currently employed in an MNC and looking for a change in job. I went through interviews and got selected in another MNC(not as big as the one I'm employed with currently). But the HR dept of the hiring company is not sure about offering me, since I hold a foreign passport. I also have an OCI which means i don't need a visa or work permit. However it seems the company considers this an issue for them. I wanted to know if this is the case with most other companies? Does anyone have similar experiences?
